Congratulations on protecting your vehicle with a ceramic coating. This nano-ceramic technology bonds to your factory clear coat and creates an incredibly durable, hydrophobic barrier — but it’s not indestructible. Proper aftercare is what separates a coating that lasts for years from one that fails early. Follow this guide and your investment will reward you for a long time.
The Critical Curing Period
Every ceramic coating package requires a full 2–3 weeks to cure depending on humidity and temperature. What you do — or don’t do — during this window directly determines how well the coating bonds and how long it lasts.
Do not park under trees (these can weep sap onto the vehicle), allow bird droppings, sap, pollen, or bug splatter to sit. If you notice these contaminants on the paint, use a detail spray and clean microfiber towel to spot-clean immediately. Avoid yard sprinklers. Sprinkler systems can spray on the car and while the water evaporates, mineral deposits are left on the paint.
- Do not wash for at least two full weeks
- Park in a garage or covered area when possible
- Spot-clean contaminants immediately with Americana Global Detail Spray
- Contact your installer if you’re unsure about contamination
Do’s & Don’ts
Once the coating is fully cured, routine maintenance is straightforward — as long as you follow the right approach. Using the wrong products or methods can degrade or even void your warranty.
✓ Do These
- Hand wash using the two-bucket technique (described below)
- Use touchless washing — foam cannon, foam gun, or high-pressure rinse
- Use pH-neutral soap: Americana Global Ceramic Aftercare Soap or Vinyl & PPF Soap
- Use microfiber wash mitts and dedicated microfiber drying towels
- Wash in shade, in a garage, or in the early morning / late afternoon
- Apply Ceramic Pro CARE as a drying aid while the vehicle is still wet
- Spot-clean contaminants with Americana Global Detail Spray between washes
✕ Never Do These
- Automatic brush-style car washes — these scratch the coating and void your warranty
- Washing in direct sunlight or on a warm surface
- Soaps with wax, petroleum distillates, or pH below 5.0 or above 9.0
- "Dry Wiping" debris off a dry surface with a microfiber towel (wipe without use of detail spray)
How to Wash Your Coated Vehicle
The gold standard is the three-bucket hand wash method. We recommend completing a full two-bucket wash at minimum every 60 days, even if you use a touchless or foam-cannon wash in between.
Bucket Setup
- Bucket 1 — Wheel Bucket: water with dedicated wheel cleaner or wheel soap (pH neutral wash soap is appropriate if you are unsure)
- Bucket 2 — Wash Bucket: water with 2 oz Americana Global Ceramic Aftercare Soap, agitated to produce suds
- Bucket 3 — Rinse Bucket: clean water only for rinsing your wash mitt (grit guard recommended)
Step-by-Step Process
Spray wheels and tires with wheel cleaner or iron remover. Agitate with dedicated brushes — barrel brush for inner barrels, lug nut brush for tight areas, tire brush for rubber. Rinse thoroughly before moving to the next wheel. Never reuse the wheel bucket or mitt on paint — brake dust will scratch.
Use a garden hose or pressure washer (stay 12–18 inches from paint; 24 inches from PPF) to rinse all loose dirt and debris. Optional: apply foam cannon pre-wash and let dwell 2 minutes before rinsing. If you're using a pressure washer, use a 40 degree tip to be safe.
Work in order: Roof → Glass → Hood & Trunk → Upper Doors → Lower Doors & Rockers → Rear Bumper. Dip mitt in soapy bucket, wash a section, scrub mitt against grit guard in rinse bucket, reload in wash bucket, repeat. Rinse each section before moving on.
Rinse the entire vehicle top-down with clean water. Working panel by panel, spray Americana Global Detail Spray or Ceramic Pro CARE 2–3 times on the damp surface and dry with a clean microfiber. Use a blower on crevices and emblems to prevent drips. Never air-dry — tap water minerals cause water spots.
Start by washing the vehicle. If spots remain, mix a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and distilled water (not tap water). Spray directly on the surface, let dwell 30 seconds, then wipe clean with a plush microfiber. Persistent spots should be assessed by your installer.

Interior & Other Surfaces
If your interior surfaces were coated — leather, fabric, plastics — they require their own routine. The coating protects against permanent stains and UV damage, but still needs to be maintained.
- Wipe coated surfaces with a damp microfiber cloth or Americana Global All-Purpose Cleaner
- Vacuum carpets and seats every few weeks to remove dust and debris
- Immediately clean spilled liquids with a damp microfiber, then dry with a clean one
- Do not use leather conditioners or interior sprays with added wax
Wheels and calipers, glass, and PPF/vinyl surfaces each have their own coating and care requirements. Refer to your warranty documentation for specifics on those surfaces.
Protecting Your Warranty
Your Ceramic Pro warranty is tied to proper maintenance. Annual services must be completed within 30 days before or after your anniversary date. Missing an annual service doesn’t void your warranty outright, but it does reduce your coverage period.
Notify Ceramic Pro within 30 days of any product performance failure. Only certified Ceramic Pro installers can perform warranty work. Automatic brush washes, abrasive products, and non-approved third-party products will void your warranty.
Have questions or notice something unusual? Contact our team for an assessment before attempting any corrective work — this protects your warranty coverage.
